About Us

GFBG was founded in 2008 by a group of diverse professionals sharing a similar vision and passion for serving the underserved population with the goal of positively impacting their quality of life.  Mr. Nasser Beydoun, one of the founding members, currently leads the operations of the organization.  He is supported by a diverse and energetic Board of Directors along with volunteers from a cross-section of the community it serves.  

The initial decision to form the Global Food Bank Group was based on the severe increase in those who have fallen below the poverty line.  An economic study showed that 1 out of every 9 Michigan families was expected to seek food assistance.  This included people who never thought they would be in need of receiving such assistance.  Additionally, 1 out of every 10 people was using Emergency Food Programs and there was a 37% shortage in the number of meals available to those utilizing this service.  The numbers have only increased due to the pandemic while the ability to provide the services has become more and more challenging.  There are more people today in need of services than ever before!

Global Food Bank Group is ready to fill this need and provide the required support and assistance to all individuals and families struggling in today’s very challenging climate we live in.
